This is so very sad

Tyler Hamilton lost his dog during the penultimate Tour De France. His wife brought his dog to him for a final look before the animal had to be put down. Both Tyler and his wife were in tears.
Tyler was so broken-hearted he found it very difficult to perform in the mountains as they had had the dog for years.
This is the problem when you have pets. Losing a pet is heart breaking.

Errrr. No. We all buy pets and know it's more likely that they will die before us. You don't pack in the TDF for that reason. Ludricous. Chimera indeed!

Fred, I totally missed the point you were making. I do miss Flyer, he would have caught it before the first bounce.

I don't miss Flyer on that premise and that is the only problem I had with him(cross posting) as it were.
We vile humans relate to dogs because they are closer to any other specie in nature to our emotional make-up.
Dogs of course have a genuine mastery of true and genuine emotions ,unlike the sham we humans portray.
We are lucky that dogs even give us a second glance.
The worst dog I've met was 10 times better in characture than the best human I've met.
I have met a lot more humans than dogs. If dogs had thumbs we humans would be extinct, and rightly so.

my gerbil died when i was 7, i'll never forget the poor little mite.

serious head injuries after the little [censored] bit my thumb...took a claw hammer and panned its brains in...

still though, it was a very moving funeral.

What do you expect when zoo keepers allow their chimps access to keyboards? 😕 Fred is living proof that primates can learn to type words but coherent sentences are still a little beyond him.

Speaking of animals, I recently befriended a fox and it's quite amazing. Now the fox knows me, he comes right up for his feedings. Yesterday I gave him cat food I bought from the supermarket and a bag of crisps.
I was also hand feeding a wild weasel. Once the weasel got to know me, he'd come right up to me and I'd feed him bread.

Weasels are similar to ferrets and polecats which can be tamed and even trained. I would be surprised if their digestive system can cope with bread, you may just be killing it with kindness.

They both have tendencies to carry Rabies as well a few other undesirable diseases...so be cautious.

I tried a variety of foods and the weasel seemed to prefer bread. So far as I know, he's been rooting in the canteen for months getting scraps.
This little fellow has an elongated body and a kind of humped back. He has no fear of me at all and will hop on my lap after scraps.
However, soon as the fox makes his appearance, the weasel beats a retreat. So then I feed the fox his portions - usually meat and dog biscuits.

maybe you can befriend a squirrel....and then hand feed it...to the fox. :p

My fox isn't as aggressive as his counterparts. Normally I wouldn't feed a wild fox as they need to fend for themselves but this fox was already accustomed to food before I encountered him.
Once I saw my fox buddy lying on the grass and loads of rabbits playing around him, without fear. There was real harmony.
I suppose if I wasn't around to feed him he'd more than likely rummage through garbage cans than hunt. He's as bold as brass. I was once sitting down reading a book and he came right up to share my food.
