    A) No it didn't. (It happened on 1/1/4.)

    B) This has already made the rounds of various forums worldwide, including this one (at least two
    long threads).

    C) Did you ask Bill Porter for permission to post this?

    D) Pretty sure site is down, due to tremendous number of hits.

    E) Much better to "save target as" than to stream, as it's a large file.

I had similar problems, but if you go to Miles' page with the crash pictures (link in the 'Short
ride report' thread) you can find it there.

reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated, i am pleased to say. I suffered a broken
metacarpal on the pinky finger of my right hand, sprained my left wrist, and have nasty cuts and
bruises on most of my body. Nothing that won't heal quickly, though. thanks for asking.

thanks, that's a pretty rough fall. A little more commitment and he'd have been fine (easy to say
from here of course). Good to know that he didn't get hurt too bad.

Has anyone ever made a Fall Rating scale? IMO, the level of injury suffered inversely affects the
awe inspiration potential of a fall, making yours a true Lifetime Achievement.

Has anyone ever made a Fall Rating scale?

I've used this scale with my riding buds for a couple of years. It's based very loosely on the
Richter scale, where every number indicates a 10X increase in intensity:

    The Lavertu Scale:

= Fails to unclip and falls while stopping. 1 = Falls over while starting off. 2 = Falls in slow
motion from being too cautious. 3 = Bike skids out on slippery section. More of a body dab than a
fall. 4 = Wipes at moderate speed, light abrasion or bruising. 5 = Includes enough flight time
before impact to know it's coming. It WILL hurt tomorrow. 6 = Everyone waits until you get up
before making fun of you. It hurts now, but you deny it. 7 = They have to pick you and/or the bike
up, and don't make fun of you. 8 = Significant damage to bike. Fellow riders really want to take
you in for X-rays 9 = Causes repair bill approaching new bike cost and/or medical bills pay off
physician's boat 10 = Leaves smoking crater, bike and rider reduced to confetti sized bits

We've awarded a 9.0 for a superman fall with a one finger landing that resulted in a double knuckle
dislocation. Miles' fall is certainly in that range!

    I'd say, what, about a 7.5 then?
