Jacqui, this is, by far, the nicest response I have ever seen to a WebTV user in all my
usenet days, and they number quite a lot.

If the poster takes your post to heart you will have created another fine contributor to
usenet, and I thank you. If they do not, I thank you still. Your efforts are
commendable.

I'm assuming that "discuss" refers to one of the WebTV's alt.discuss.*
groups and that "Cooking" refers to rec.food.cooking, a Usenet newsgroup
(this one). To access it with WebTV, use groups.google at
<http://groups.google.com/group/rec.food.cooking>.

Thank you. I'm a big fan of education versus attack and/or humiliation.
There's plenty of time to snark at people if and when they prove themselves
to be willfully stupid, although I find myself less and less willing to do
so -- exercising some self-restraint or, in lieu of self-restraint, a good
killfile can make Usenet a more pleasant place (must be getting soft in my
middle-age 🙂).

Please feel free to use the text whenever and wherever you think it's
appropriate.
