I'll be up in Oregon twice this summer--first on family
business near McMinnville, and second on a (road) bike tour
with the Sacramento Wheelmen. On both trips I'll be seeing a
fair amount of the coast.

If you want to try Hagg Lake again (without the 22-mile pre-
ride!) when you're in McMinnville, let me know. I haven't
been riding a lot this year, but its now starting to dry
out. There are some other nice rides with big trees not too
much farther away.

No way am I selling the Serotta, Jer. Riding with the
roadies around here is way too much fun. Seana Hogan--who
won RAAM six times and holds the transcontinental record--
started riding with us about a month ago, after we had a
chance meeting on a Calaveras County back road. Needless to
say, she is as strong as a mule, only a whole lot prettier.
Nevertheless, we treat her like one of the guys, and I think
that's the way she likes it.

You are so lucky to live near some great trails. Around here
it's at least an hour's drive to any trails worth riding.
Yet the road riding near here has been compared to Tuscany--
minus the quaint Italian villages and motorists who actually
treat cyclists with respect.

Still, I haven't given up on mountain biking completely, and
I can afford to get a new mtb and still keep my "tool of
satan." Right now the 03 Giant NRS Air on sale at the local
Performance shop looks pretty enticing.
