  1. hello, Im 13 ( soon to be 14) and have been road cycling for about 3 months. recently i began riding more serioulys ( not 2 serioulsy..i mean i am jsut 13 🙄 ) and have been thinkin about local junior TT's . So for that i have a few questions, how much riding should i be doing? as of now i do about 10-15miles a day. Also what equipment should i have?

FYI on my most recent ride i went 16miles at and average speed of 14.5 mph including about 5miles of uphill riding ( in dont know the exact % of incline but around 10-15%)

    thanks for the help

    Kyle

  2. anybody....?

  3. if you want to get better you have to ride longer, i dont measure
my rides in miles rather time, im not interested in raceing but i
ride no less then 10 hours a week this is the min time for athlete
cyclist. so ride longer make it 20 miles next ride then 22...
as far as eguipment goes if your talking about your bike if
your going to race spend as much as you can on componets,
maybe someone here with more knowlege can comment, good
    luck.

  4. Not sure I'd agree that it is all a question of increasing your mileage Kyle. I suggest that you enter a few events and take it from there. If you want to train for say 5 or 10 mile TTs, you don't necessarily need to up the mileage. At your age, I think your current miles sound adequate. Maybe you should try some shorter, faster training - but get a coach (try your local club - it may be free for juniors). At your age, concentrate on enjoying your riding - don't push it too hard. The time for putting in the big miles will come later.

  5. Kyle, go and find some people to ride with like a club or some people from your school. Try some races; TTs are fun, but so are crits and MTB races. Don't worry about not riding enough, develop your skills first (e.g. cornering, braking, etc.) as you'll need them when you get in the Tour de France!!!!

    Are you in the UK?

  6. no, im actually in the US, livin in VA

  7. Is there a club you can join with people you can ride with/take you out cycling?
