regulars anymore. I know I don't frequent this newsgroup much anymore.
It's nothing but doping talk, flames and insults.

So where has everyone gone? What forums are you finding where people
actually still love the sport of cycling and enjoy talking about racing?
I'm frequenting the forum at Slowtwitch.com. It's more of a triathlete
venue, but there's lively and friendly discussion of all kinds of bike
topics and the level of participation is quite high. What else is out
there?

Spring is almost here in this hemisphere. Around here you can meet
people riding all the time. Surprisingly, drugs are rarely mentioned -
mostly I guess this year it is who moved to 10 cogs on the back and
whether it means anything or its just another way to support the local
bike shop. My official position is that 10 cog Ultegra means I can
afford the 9 cog stuff left behind.

I'd guess another part of that conversation would be how fast is a fat
assed master, in the spring, going to wear out or break 10 cog stuff as
opposed to 9. Watched quite a few chains break last year and saw some
bent cogs. Mostly with powerful pro types, but I'd imagine a fat Master
going uphill might put similar stress on the stuff.

Maybe people drift away from rbr because nothing much is going on. Maybe
Lafferty sticks out more because his volume remains constant while the
sum total of non-Lafferty discussion drops. There is a clear periodicity
to newsgroup activity:

Notice who leads in Threads Initiated. I'll bet if you charted him by

Part of the issue is Lafferty's inability to not followup every single
post that either mentions him or follows one of his. His psychotic
insistence on always getting the last word means that any thread he
touches is extended to the point of boredom.
