Exactly what Prudhomme et al tried to prevent by barring Astana and the OP riders from riding.I can sort of see where they were coming from as this was going to be a result of that if they didnt take action.

It's standard PR bollocks to threaten to walk. The fact is nobody would link Skoda to Landis unless they reminded us.

I feel there's more to it. Hardly good PR to make public statements on this if they are not seriously considering a pull out. Anyhow, time will tell. It seems they have a contract until next year, so wouldn't it be interesting if even they had a clause to allow them pull out in case of doping scandals?

Well, given the number of Peugeots with Skoda banners all over them at the TdF, I don't think their presence was all that large to begin with.
-
Their sponsorship has helped them sell more cars. That will be the deciding factor.
And if they do walk away I guarantee Mr Prudhomme won't have any trouble replacing them.

[font=Verdana]Sad loss.... East German skuz buckets ! The non-Europeans wouldn't realise the jokes that used to go around about Skoda cars.... believe me it’s not a big loss.... Skoda needed the Tour more than the Tour needed them……

Thats [censored]. You still living in 1989? Bon Jovi still playing on your record player?
Skoda regularly tops polls of best cars in their class in european markets.
They are owned by VW now. Need I say more.

I know they are superbly built, reliable cars with a rally winning pedigree...but would you really buy one?
No, really. Would you?

Yes.But maybe it depends on where in the world you live, and as a result its resale value and access to service for the make.

When David Hasselhoff sung on top of the Berlin wall when it came down in 1989 he was driven away in a black Skoda to state function..... need I say more ? I'd drive a Lada before I'd drive a Skoda ! -

That was a trabant. Trabant = East German, Skoda = Czech, Lada = Russia.

Ladas are years behind Skodas. Don't bother arguing with me - you know Im right.

Yes it is good because it means they have access to the best designers, technology, and have had huge investment from the VW group behind themIts there to illustrate to your man that his view of these makes is based on some joke he heard in high school

Actually it's a German car, Volkswagen bought Skoda, it's a Jan car and they pull out because Jan wasn't allowed to start... 😄Seriously: a spokesman of Skoda Belgium said that the TdF sponsoring would continue but that Skoda wants to pay less and it's all part of the game...
We'll see

Of course he drives an A8 unless he has traded recently.

As far as i know he didn't, he still drives the A 8 if he's not riding on his Jan Ullrich bike (or eating pancakes and if he wins the TdF in 2007 i will make him some myself😄 ).
