  1. One of my mature female colleagues, a mother of two, mentioned to another
female co-worker the same age in a swooning manner that "Daniel was on TV
twice last night." I asked who was the object of their desires and was
somewhat taken aback to be shown a keyring with a picture of a somewhat
portly man in a hideous green t shirt.

Their idol was singer Daniel Bedingfield.

OK, eye (and in this case ear) of the beholder and all that but I'm sure I
could come up with some cycling god that would knock him into a cocked hat.
Wracking my brain and somewhat tentatively getting in touch with my gay
side, I tried to come up with what I considered to be the most handsome bike
rider of the moment and came up with Petacchi.

After showing them some more photos from old bike mags they both agreed that
he is indeed a fine figure of a man, but he can't sing as well as Daniel. To
put the tin hat on it, I showed them a photo of Petacchi bawling his eyes
out after winning a race and that did it - he's their new hero :-)

I found this picture that explains it perfectly:

Well, luckily I'm used to handling this, being a SW radio "expert" n'all :-)

You are deluding yourself. Those radio buttons are all logically laid
out and their functions clearly labelled whereas.........

Yes, I'll have to have a go at shifting some of the knobs and buttons around
and putting different function labels on them to give me a sporting chance!

Daniel Bedingfield is not my cup of tea. He may be a thoroughly nice bloke
for all I know, but he doesn't get the heart rate jumping ;-)

Aye, Petacchi is rather yummy. Basso can be scrummy in non-Lycra clothing
too. Indeed somewhere in the pile of cycling mags in a corner of Chateau
Unfit Family is a mag containing pics of firm, lithe, muscular men of the
peloton in various stages of undress.... must try to find it. Purely for
    research purposes, of course;-)

    Cheers, helen s
