"We the undersigned, endorse the following petition:
Petition Against the Award of an Honorary Degree by Oxford Brookes
    University to Jeremy Clarkson
Target: Graham Upton Vice Chancellor Oxford Brookes University
    Sponsor: Alison Chisholm

Jeremy Clarkson has publicly expressed values which run counter to
social responsibility and stewardship of environmental and public
resources. Oxford Brookes University should dissociate itself from such
views and should not condone them by the award of an honorary degree."

Except, it's not his tongue-in-cheek, yes controversial, wit, that he is
being honoured for, it's more to do with his wider enthusiasm for great
    engineering.

That'll be 'Oxford Polytechnic' then. Somehow I don't think the wordl will
stop turning whether their petition works or not.

And what exactly is there to care about? It's a rebadged poly, and
probably struggling to associate itself with anyone that you or
I might have heard of. A very low-grade version of the bad company
a Nobel peace prize or a website award puts you in.

Indeed, perhaps we should ask whether JC will even /accept/ an award
    from such a low-grade outfit.

Since they are leaders in automotive design and motorsport engineering
teaching and research I suspect he will (and that it is one of the
    reasons for offering)

They also have a strong business school and I've been very impressed
with graduates from there that I have employed in the past.
