  1. Today whilst riding back through town on the trice a little child asked Mum "Is that a
    car?" <shudder>

It reminded me of my last 'ultimate' insult when browsing in a bike shop in Pau (I think), when an
assistant came from behind and asked if "madamoiselle" required any help. Those were in the days
<mumble mumble> of shoulder length hair and Led Zeppelin.

What was galling is that I hadn't even shaved my legs 🙁

    Any other ultimate bike insults?

    John B

When people presume you must have lost your driving license. They often don't realise that I cycle
through freezing winters because I enjoy it 🙂 Yesterday was fun, the Hampton Court Flower show is
just down the road. Kingston was gridlocked, I cycled around and around and around ... 😉

Yup, I got that at work.

"How long are you disqualified for?"

    Cheeky tw@'s!

My colleagues know full well that I own a car, and therefore regard me as being a bit odd when I
arrive at work at 7:30am in the pouring rain with a ridiculous grin on my face.

? Oh that Kingston! Hull was OK yesterday.

Anyway, arriving at work in February at 0630 wet through, with colleagues saying things like "Why
didn't you tell me, I'd have given you a lift" etc, but the biggest insult is that I have to leave
my expensive led lamps (4 off) on my bike (where they can get nicked) at our chemical works as "they
    contain batteries".

Of course, the mobile phone carrying car drivers can bring in their personal battery operated items
in by the 100's that are banned at petrol stations! As well as laptop computers, car keys, personal
    organisers, pagers, PDAS etc.

To any gaffers reading this, this is not libellous as it is 100% true. Simon.

"How long are you disqualified for?"

You can turn that around, and assume they are driving a car cuz they are disabled and can't cycle:
"how long have you got left to live?"

    Hi Simon

Tell you what, as I'm just about legally disabled (that doesn't really make too much sense, does
it?), why not invite me to cycle into wherever it is you work. The company's refusing me entry into
the site when using lights would surely be some sort of discrimination.

I almost but not quite entirely detest the latest fad of suing everyone in sight just for the hell
of it. But whatever, I'm game for a laugh :-) <<<----------- See

FWIW, I own none of laptop computers, car keys, personal organisers, pagers or PDAs. I can't
    possibly comment about the etc.

    What's a PDA, BTW?

Incidentally, what would your company's policy be if you were unfortunate enough to have to wear a
battery-powered pacemaker or any other similar life-sustaining gizmo?

Exactly! Someone once saw me on my recumbent trike and later told me "I thought you were handicapped
or something". I wanted to say "well, you're the one having your [censored] hauled round by motor!"

    <shudder> ...

My SO and I were touring in Denmark last summer with a Trice+BOB trailer and a Windcheetah, full
pannier/camping load on both. We were parked by a quay in Sæby. A woman came up and asked "how old
are the children that are riding those?" After choking on my coffee I asked where I could find
some children that could pull all my holiday gear for me. She got the idea, lost interest and
    wandered off.

In the case of a pacemaker it's contained inside the body and hence doesn't pose any risk as an
ignition source (which is the reason for prohibiting batteries from chemical plants).

If his colleagues are bringing prohibited devices on to the site, contrary to the saftey regulations
then the original poster should probably be informing his site saftey officer about it, and may also
want to raise the issue of secure storage at the gatehouse for such items.

Pacemakers are allowed, as are hearing aids. Simon

Ah. It turns out that I'd guessed the first two words correctly but "assistant" had me stymied.

Not so much an insult except of the callers intelligence.

When transporting tandem in solo mode (i.e. missing stoker), "Can you ride tandem?". Duh!
