"He started skipping breakfast, and ate just two subs a day, a small
turkey and a large veggie, along with some baked potato chips, and
diet soda. Soon, he cut his daily consumption from 10,000 calories a
    day to just 2,000. "

Does all of this really add up to 2000 calories?

IMO if that's all he ate I doubt it totalled 2000 calories. From the
nutritional info on their website, a 6" turkey sub contains 280 calories. I
didn't see an entry for anything larger than that but if you consider a
large veggie sub to be close to two 6" subs it would total around 460
calories. Unless he really went overboard on the potato chips or was eating
something they aren't telling us there's just no way he was taking in 2000
    calories.

I re-read the extract. It does not say that the only things he ate was
two subs a day and potato chips. It says that he ate only two subs a
day along potato chips. At 280 calories per sub, he could have eaten 8
of these to reach 2000 calories a day. It looks like a lot to me.

No, it's not 2000 calories, but no doubt he added a few things not
mentioned. I'm not surprised that he was hungry all the time with the
miserably few calories and all the hunger-inducing potato chips and
    buns he was eating.

What blew my mind was that he used to eat what five people eat, and
suddenly has mererly 2 subs a day and bag of chips!

Apparently he did exactly that since he went from 425 to 175 in just
one year. It looks like he has been keeping it off since. I wonder if
Subway chipped in under the table for some bariatric surgery.
