Took the bike out for a ride last night. It had been a tad damp during the day and the roads were wet but the weather was clearing up.
There was some dramatic cloud over the Tay so I stopped to take a few pictures. This time I had cunningly placed a piece of sellotape across the LCD on the camera to give me a reasonably horizontal reference. As I was standing around in what appears to be Midge Alley I noticed a few bites. Today I feel really [censored] and have more than a few bites on my legs.

The ride wasn't too bad but I must look in the EBC sale for a cheap, light and powerful front light. My little LED one is not really up to much more than about 10mph on road and [censored] for spotting potholes.
I need something good that is easily removable or I will be having to resort to the MTB (with its 10+2.4W smart lamp) for night riding.

My Lumicycle lights mount to the bottom of my Carradice bar bag, and the batteries are in a bottle. I have clickfix mounts for the bar bag on all my bikes and normally transfer it to the one I'm riding, so I can have my lumis (10w spot + 20w flood) on whichever bike I like.
Saves buying a separate lighting kit for every bike.

We saw you 😉 Driving back from orienteering, at the roundabout at the bottom of Ninewells avenue. Who were the two people covered with gorse scratches in a red Fiesta... 'A tad damp' here means 'typical Dundee monsoon'?

I must admit that going either up or downhill past Ninewells I am not realy looking at the contents of the cans on the road.. I'm now covered in bites.. could hardly sleep last night.

I got the flyer too.. I'll definitely be having a look in EBC.

You must taste nice. Some Scottish midges like me (especially the ones round Loch Awe) but others like the ones near Oban don't seem to.
I think you need some "Shoo!". Cracking stuff that, for lighting fires as well as repelling airborne evildoers.
FWIW, I devoured a fair few of the less ferocious English midges while out riding last night. Just open wide, scoop, swallow and gag a bit. Revenge! Ha!

Lupine Nightmare - not recommended, it takes all the fun out of night riding, though on the road bits I like being able to dip it for passing motors.
