  1. IIRC, the Pot Belge contains heroin. Now all becomes clear.
    They should let Brandt ride.

So you assume the presence of Methadone indicates
addiction? Dude, don't learn about important thing through
    the grape vine.

They should let hi ride, but I have said all along that the
list of drugs is far too long. Methadone and other pain meds
should be allowed with a medical certificate. The UCI should
have a jury or panel of MDs to decide if a certificate is
legit when the application is made. There should also be an
appeals process if they deny the certificate.

One of the reasons that the doping rules are not respected
is that they are far far too stringent. There are a
handful of drugs I bought OTC last month that are all
banned not to mention half the drugs I get via
    prescription. This is absurd.

So you will soon be banned I gather. During the last month,
not to mention couple of decades, I haven't bought any drugs
and I haven't had a banned drug prescribed to me since I was
    in surgery 30 years ago.

This does not appear to be true. From the PDR:
Indications and usage: "Methadone Hydrochloride is
indicated fot relief of severe pain, for
detoxification treatment of narcotic addiction, and
for temporary maintenance treatment of narcotic
    addiction."

It is an ingredient in a couple of medecines, one of them
    being a cough medecine.

Wrong. Methadone is a long acting narcotic that can be given
orally with dependable absorbtion. It is used to substitute
for heroin in treatment of heroin additction but is is alos
used in treatment of chronic painful conditions.

I avoid taking drugs as much as possible. I was on some [censored]
called Isoniazid (sp?) for 9 months because a TB test gave
me a pink spot on my arm, I kept cycling during the period,
but it was super tough. Like most prescriptions to target
some bug it's a toxin, which is primarily targeted at the
bug, but also may harm other parts of the body, like the
liver, which meant taking B6 along with it.

It is safer than morphine if memory serves and although it
is addictive itself it takes a great deal more of it to
    produce addiction.

It is not used in any other meds anymore, too addictive, Gov

    nor pharmacies.

No, he said it was only legal to "relieve the
effects of heroin addiction." My point is that it is
also used (apparently legally) as an analgesic.

What "gov" is that? In the U.S., it is a schedule II
narcotic, which is legal to prescribe as an
analgesic. Those not legal except in approved
    investigational work are schedule I.

What govt are you talking about? According to the news on
French TV last night, it is used in 3 medicines, one of them
being cough syrup. Maybe they're just repeating his story,
but that's why I wrote what I did.

Your boy got it from a addiction clinic somewhere, through
    someone.

Firstly, methadone is easily available because it is a
very effective severe pain medication. Addiction is
something of a problem with it but the addiction isn't
like addiction to opiates. For instance, opiate addiction
leads the victim to lay around doing nothing and counting
the seconds until their next fix. Methadone PILL addicts
don't show these sorts of symptoms and act otherwise
normal until it gets close to their next pill which is on
    the order of 8-10 hours.

Secondly, if you have ever had some severe pain caused by
anything you'd know just how few good pain medications there
are. Methadone is a strong replacement for opiates such as
morphine because it acts so much longer and because small
overdoses, which self administration will inevitably cause,
don't lead to the "high" that morphine causes.

Thirdly, since testing laboratories have methadone around
them all the time as part of their testing, there is a
chance that that false positives (possibly such as Brandt's
positive) could occur due to contamination from other
samples when the equipment isn't cleaned well enough.
Methadone is easily detectable in minute quantities.
