  1. Hey,
Today i decided to just go for a cruise down the road on my nice new 2 day old mountain bike. About 20 mins into my ride the weather decided it would turn itself against me bloody [censored] down! I got rather wet, and so did my bike. The reason i posted this thread is to ask," Can the rain do any damage to your bike," eg the disc brakes, de-railers??
Just wondering cos me and my bike got really wet.

    Thanks

  2. hey,

I use my bike all through the year, no matter what the weather...

I never get any problems what so ever...

Rainwater can be very corrosive towards the components, Like brakes etc, all you have to do is keep a thin layer of grease on these parts, and when the bike suffers from a shower, just dry the bike off, and re-lube the chain etc

    Hope this help

    Cheers,
    Dan

  3. yeah thanks man i just wasnt sure. just bought it and i am still going through that "New bike, gotta look after it phase."

    cheers

  4. You wouldn't happen to be in Melbourne would you? I also got very drenched... the client looked at me very strangly when I showed up dripping wet :P.

Normally I wear waterproof pants and a thick waterproof jacket, but as I wasn't expecting rain, I was caught out in just a light jacket :s.

  5. Thats funny you should say so actually. Just head a bit further south and as you would know there is an island named Tasmania. It is in this place you shall find me, quietely riding through the rain.

  6. Tasmania? But you said you were Australian!

    :P

Ok man, WTF! This is about bike riding in the rain...Not about the states of australia and all that geographical [censored] that goes with it. But, i would advise you to check ANY atlas and you will see my point proven. 😎
Did you think tasmania was its own independant country or something... Tassie is much a part of australia as victoria or new south wales.

  10. It was a joke, sheez. You should know us mainlanders like to insult you tasmanians :P
