If it turns out they truly suck overall it's still an experiment worth
doing. The 26" wheel is an artifact of mountain bikes origins. No
testing went into determining an optimum diameter for an adult off road
bike. 26s were available so that's what was used. What if in ten years
every one rides a 29er because they're so much better (despite what my
nuts would have to say)? Some marketing weasel will decide that 32" is
worth a try. Maybe it will be great, maybe not. Maybe 29" is the sweet
spot, maybe 26". Can't know till someone does the experiment.

I'd really love to try a 25" wheel with a fairly lightweight high
volume tyre. Tried a set of 24" wheels with DH tyres but they felt too
heavy for normal xc biking.

Why be mean, I am not here to defend my bike skills or try to profess the

long fireroad climbs. Actually I like going up better than down.

much industry support to make it as viable as 26" wheels. Tire and rim

dilweeds like gary fisher to sell more bikes. "You gotta get a 29er"
is something I'm already tired of hearing, especially being tall and
weighty compared to most riders. I have my quiver of 26" wheeled
mountain bikes, most of which were built custom for me and they work
very well. I'm not about to switch and buy into something I don't see
as viable just because a few people say I should.
