Isn’t it curious how we often overlook the fundamentals of cycling while getting lost in the shiny allure of new tech? It seems we’re quick to invest in the latest components, convinced they’ll enhance our performance, yet many of us lack the basic skills to truly utilize them. If we’re not putting in the miles or refining our technique, what’s the point of a high-end gear upgrade?

Could it be that the constant chase for tech is a way to avoid confronting our own limitations? Are we, in effect, substituting genuine skill development with consumerism? If we’re genuinely seeking improvement, shouldn’t we focus on the core aspects of cycling—like endurance and pacing—rather than being sidetracked by the latest marketing gimmicks?
