  1. Hi everyone,

My name is Don and I am still a newbie in the cycling world. I live in Spring, TX and ride all over Spring and The Woodlands outside of Houston, TX. I currently am riding a 2012 Cannondale CAAD10 105 and also have a mtb Cannondale Trail 29er SL4.

I quit smoking back on May 3, 2012 and just celebrated my 100th day of being smoke free. I started riding about 2 weeks after I quit and currently in the short amount of time my furthest distance is 58 miles. My current pace is roughly 3:40 minutes/mile. I think I'm doing pretty good for being a 20+ year smoker having just recently quit.

Anyways, I just wanted to say Hi.

  2. Great work!

  3. congrats on quitting smoking and going 58 mile already, thats GREAT. keep up the good work and welcome

  4. Congratulations! Ride safely (Texas drivers!) and have fun out there.

  5. Being a former smoker of 18+ years as well and quiting 5 months ago I hear you. I love the ability of just riding like I did when I was young, and I think I have traded out smoking for riding in some respects. At least for me. Congrats, and keep it up. I just wish I started biking 2 weeks after I quit instead of 3 weeks ago. By the way. I don't know what you price per pack is down there, But I can tell you that up here in NY, I love having that 10$ per pack per day in my pocket to go towards a new bike.

I am from Syracuse myself and left before the Clintons started there takeover of NY (Thank god). I was just up there right before I quit but I always brought my smokes with me. Down here they're anywhere from $4-$8/pack.

Good luck with your quit and keep it forever. Also, if you are saving $10/day, you should be able to buy a Cannondale SuperSix Evo in no time 🙂.

    Where you at in NY?

    Don

  7. Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.

    Don
