Further proof today that Invisible Cyclist Syndrome has spread beyond the motoring population. I'm cycling along an A road in one of our local villages when I come upon a group of contractor type people thinning large trees by the roadside. I'm riding at maybe 14 or 15 mph towards the guy stationed in the roadway. I'm riding a shiny aluminium bike and I'm wearing a yellow hi-viz cycling jacket, red shoes and so on.
As the only car in sight passes, the guy looks up and down the road, at which point I'm maybe 50 yards short of him, and shouts "OK, road's clear". Another guy up in the trees then lets go of a cut branch which drops down towards the road and could well have clouted me had it not snagged on some other branches and swung inwards to the trunk.
As I went past I looked at the man in the road and he gave me a cheery "Hi there", clearly with no notion of having done anything untoward. I can only assume that his training course had mentioned ceasing operations while motor vehicles were on the road but had made no mention of bicycles. Or perhaps I really am invisible. If this message doesn't appear that doesn't mean I didn't send it.

Never mind the invisible cyclist, some [censored] managed to avoid seeing me whilst I was piloting a tonne and a half of metallic blue metal earlier...
