Actually, yes.

Thanks to the generous demo program coming to my town recently, I got to
take one for a test drive. The stupid thing, equipped with Record 10v, a
carbon bar probably worth more than my racing bike, and that wacky
Cannondale-only BB/crank, completely seduced me. But I am vulnerable to
the seductive charms of a really really light bicycle.

Meh, I doubt the lifespan of the frame is THAT much less than a
"normal" Cannondale.

Which tends to at least be a *fairly* long time. I've seen other Al
frames (Bianchis) which had horribly high failure rates. I haven't
personally seen the same with Cannonballs, though I'll admit I don't
know all that many people who ride them these days.

The Too-Light-for-the-Tour thing was a marketing ploy,
nothing more. Any manufacturer there could build a bike
that was under the weight limit. Heck, I've even build up a
15-pound Heron without getting into stupid-light parts!

The warranty is the same as (most quality bikes)all Cannondale bikes
(Life on frame and a year on components. What the hell's "buy a second
one" supposed to mean? Just got done implying that the ride was
expensive... If you are trying to say that the six13 is so
(carbon)light it will not last or it'll break, you are incorrect. The
thing's a piece of art and built like a brick [censored] house. I hammered
the bageebeezs out of it too. And for a big boy, that thing was the
most stable, light and quickest ride I have ever been on...period.

My bike shop boss recently built up a "too-light" Colnago to go with
his "too-light" Litespeed. I'm sure 500 other bikes could be done up
the same way.

It's not that hard at all.

Just a brief note on warranties, and Cannondale's warranty in
specific. The warranty covers the frame against "manufacturing
defects in materials and/or workmanship for the lifetime of the
original owner." "This warranty is not meant to suggest or imply
that the bicycle cannot be broken or will last forever. It does
mean that the bicycle is covered subject to the terms of the
warranty."

So, unless a fatigue failure is a "manufacturing defect in
materials or workmanship," the warranty would not apply if your
bike just got old and cracked -- like mine did a month ago -- and
you probably would not have a warranty claim. Also, being that I
could not find my receipt from 1986, I was SOL. So, a life time
warranty does not mean you get a new bike every time one breaks
for as long as you live. And if you are really looking for
something that will last forever (if there is such a thing), you
better choose a frame material with a long fatigue life and not
just one with a good warranty.

By the way, I also broke a 2.8 -- which broke way prematurely due
to a real defect. I got a replacement CAAD 4 for free. It is
light and climbs well, but it has the oddest fee to the rear
end -- almost squashy and vague when sitting (no, it is not my
saddle), but then it is very positive when sprinting or climbing
out of the saddle. All in all though, not a bad bike for

Ride 20 'sweet bikes' and all will hagve goods and others. Ride some that weigh
3 pounds more than the C-Dale and you may not be any faster than the C-Dale.

WAY to much emphasis on bicycle equipment. Please remember that the boys at
Saeco have a van full of spares, a legion of wrenches. They ride a 'new' bike
each day.

No doubt the c-dale is a 'sweet' ride but it won't make the sun come up any
earlier, make the birds sing, the flowers bloom . YOU still gotta push it up
the hills.

How about $43-4500 for a Trek?

The Litespeed and Colnago would run you about $5500.

FWIW, my Trek _5200_, which isn't even the top of the line, is 16
pounds in a 58cm.
