I bought the "little paper" today because of the liftout. I thought the same thing as you - it's a bit of a stretch coming from a newspaper that was so quick to condemn all cyclists a few weeks ago, but dollars are dollars.

Bit of an advertorial for Malvern Star - I had no idea they even existed any more. Also Giant got a lot of coverage - I guess they are sponsoring the charity ride by the celebrities who were profiled.

After the previous rantings by Mr Bolt, it's certainly a refreshing
change. Now we just have to persuade the road ragers such as another one
I encountered this morning that we have a right to exist.
Happily, my local State MP happens to be on the same committee that I'm
president of. Her education is something of an uphill battle, but I
persist.

The Age seem to be pouting toward 'us' too. Still ,with over 800% the circulation,

Personally, I am glad to stop hearing all the negative press on the so called "hell ride' and the blatant labelling that ALL cyclists were being stuck with. I'm happy to have read all the positive publicity that cycling has received this week and all the articles in the papers.

I like the timing of it being on the back of the Ride to work day, the Herald sun tour, ATB, the opening of the new Federation trail over in the west etc..

BV have used the momentum to really try and make the general public believe that "everyone" seems to be cycling, and even more than ever are commuting so you better get out there and join in.

Mind you, there is an election coming up.. and bracksy has made some unpopular decisions ( think.. eastern link, moving TAC to geelong) but maybe i am just being cynical....
