I am obsessed with the freemounting factor in riding the unicycle. It's
like my achilles heel.
For months, my failure to properly freemount with any real consistency
created a serious drag on my progress. These days, I can freemount
whenever I want, but still, I often do lapse back into a sub-level 1
state, usually when I think too much about the freemount I'm about to
try, or, I'm exhausted from riding all day, or when there is a new piece
of hardware on my unicycle.
So, I've decided to create this Freemounting Factor poll because I think
there must be plenty of riders out there who are wondering where they
stand in the freemounting world.
Group 1--Never sucessfully freemounted...yet.
Group 2-- Freemounted a couple of times! I know I can do it!
Group 3-- Can successfully freemount about 30% of the time.
Group 4-- Can successfully freemount about 80% of the time. Sometimes I
have horrible phases where I can't freemount at all, and so I go to the
stop sign to get started.
Group 5--Can freemount about 90% of the time, but occasionally I totally
fail repeated times, usually when people are watching.
Group 6--100% sucessful freemount rate, with the occasional miss.
Group 7--I am so great at freemounting, I never miss.
Group 8 --I never miss a freemount, except for those rare times when I
am in public and suddenly a bunch of kids gather around asking me to
ride, then I just totally fail.
I consider myself to be group 4, more or less. Don't be shy! Where do
you lie on the big freemounting pie in the sky?

All I want out of life is to be able to ride the unicycle while smoking
a cigar at the same time. Is that too much to ask for?
