Cruz. He's quite an eminent psychologist, but he also continued the work of
prominent Marxist sociologist C. Wright Mills. He wrote extensively, in the
'70s, about the way the US is really run by a plutocracy of powerful
individuals who control all of American politics and the minds of the
country's inhabitants...

In other words, Santa Cruz is indeed pretty strange.

Why would we need to split the state at the "exact" North-South
half-way point? Perhaps just below Monterey to just below Yosemite
would work...

Or for that matter, we could split the state East/West. Perhaps along
Interstate 5...

Or the state can just fumble along like it always has...
