The following message is one I received by Email regarding a spectacular effort to Walk the Three National Peaks. Can anyone offer the Bristol gang any sound advice which I will pass on to them. Thanks.
We are a Bristol company who are looking to complete the three peaks challenge but not in the normal way! We want to walk it. Not as crazy as it sounds as we are doing it in relay fashion. Raised £7,000 last year trekking to Everest Base Camp and want to raise more money for charity. Plenty of volunteers amongst our employees. Do you have any advice as to how we could go about planning the route. Climb Ben Nevis, walk to Scafell Pike and climb that, walk to Snowden and climb that then walk back to Bristol. Estimate about 5 weeks with about 30 of us doing relays. The West Highland way looks the obvious start from Fort William to Glasgow. After that we seem a bit stuck? Would like to walk off road if possible but any safe route would be fine. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks a lot

Wow, Mike! All credit to them and please will you wish them every success with their venture. They deserve to get lots of positive advice from here and half a fortune in sponsorship - is there a website for the company or something? -- All the best to everyone in 2005 - Fran

The WHW is certainly the obvious way south from Nevis. But after you reach the southern end, it gets more complex.
You need to hack along the watershed (between Edinburgh and Glasgow) but there is no official route for that. You can use part of the Southern Upland Way but will need to peel off south at some point, perhaps towards KY at the north end of the PW. Perhaps then walk S until you get the the C2C and turn right to get to the Lake District.

....or if you get to the Solway Firth it's the Allerdale Ramble followed by The Cumbria Way followed by The Cistercian Way or perhaps part of The Dales Way .

Then there is the new fangled Pennine Bridleway which appears to lie mostly to the west of the PW. I'm not sure how much of it is open yet though.
Should be OK, they can time the ascents not to arrive on someones doorstep at 3am. -- Mike Reid Three Peaks "http://www.fellwalk.co.uk/tpeaks.htm" (see web for email)
