There's a 2wd Yamaha WR450 in the Dakar rally this year, unfortunately it's too slow to make it into
any of the TV coverage since the first day but it did work amazingly well in the mud on day one. So
I guess all you need to make the 2WD concept work is a 4-stroke engine...

I always thought it would be fun to try in snow, sand, or maybe deep sloppy mud. OTOH, I'm so rarely
in conditions where it seems necessary, it's not on my list.

I'm also curious to see how it changes steep, loose climbs. You might not need pay as much attention
to front/rear weight xfer with that bike.

I guess it might be a fun one to rent for a day and see how it feels.

Christini was lending out bikes for free usage for the day at the last JT Bike Fest that we went to.
Jim was tempted to try one. The only reason I wanted him to try one was because I had bent the rotor
on my front brake and their bikes had the same brakes as mine, so essentially, I wanted to "borrow"
the rotor off one of their bikes...

Damn, I have nothing to watch Paris-Dakar on, cheap ass Charter. Sucks all the more since two
friends are running 16th and 30th, Roeseler and Krause. A third friend of mine, Casey McCoy, who was
supposed to ride with Larry and Paul, broke his leg at a KTM training camp in Tunisia in December.
It looks like Casey's replacement, the manager of the Red Bull KTM USA team, Scott Harden, has
dropped out.

Was watching a Dakar wrap-up show last night on SPEED and they showed quite a bit of the Yahmama. I
was under the impression it was doing pretty well, but I guess that was just early on.

I beleive he droped out with a broken leg, oh the irony. I think it was an Italian rider that rode
450km with his left foot dangling from a broken ankle. The Yamaha 450 has suddenly won 3 stages. I
can only assume the KTM guys are getting beat to rat !@#! by their bikes and the 200 pound lighter
Yamaha is easier on the rider in these later stages. Now if they can just keep it from exploding.

Speed vision probably has the worst coverage but it's all we got. I don't know what you need to pick
up Al'Jazerra but they have a lot of cameras there this year. Plus if you had that network you would
get to see the latest Osama Bin Laden tapes broadcast in their entirety 🙂 And of course the french
have so much advertising in that race that there must be a french channel devoted to it.
