  1. I have done several rides of 35 miles and one just over 36. It seemed to be about
    all I had.

Today I left the house at 2:30am, 75`f, 50% humidity, light breeze, occasional light
rain. Lots of lighting to the north and east.

I smashed it, crashed it, broke it, pulverized it, pureed it, mashed it and bashed it!
    I kicked it's butt, I owned it!!

    47.3 miles, average speed 14.7mph.

  2. Congrats...that great. Keep it up !!!!

  3. Good for you! 😎

  5. You started riding at 2:30am? good grief that's early. But regardless you did it so congrats. Now shoot for 53 next week. Do you have any towns you can ride to that are about 26.5 miles away from the house? If so make that the goal to reach the town and then back.

Getting twenty five miles from home is not an option, My parents are both in
their late 80's and live at home and I need to be available if they need me.

Most of my riding is within ten miles of home, I just find new places to go all
the time, different routes and new streets to explore.

Never with out the cell phone!

Thanks for all the "up" talk!!

I have more respect for you taking care of your elderly parents then I do knowing you made it 53 miles!!

That's great, bet you don't see 40 miles as being a barrier anymore, set yourself a target and work towards this. I was like you and would tend to go out for 2-3 hours at a time and would usually do 30 or 40 miles depending on the ride, would feel spent after. Push it a little each week and you will surpass your expectations then 100 miles will become achievable.

  9. Good job, I'm happy for you 🙂.

  10. Congrats!

Just last Sunday (not this past Sunday...) my wife and I did our first 30 mile ride...ON MOUNTAIN BIKES! We rode the C&O Canal, so it was all level terrain, so there were no breaks from pedaling; it was constant.

We've done 15 miles before, and 20 on the road, so we figured it wouldn't be that big of a deal. While the weather was warm, it wasn't unbearable. The previous night we had done 15 miles, and from the start on Sunday, my knee was a little bit sore. It was a lot sorer after that 30 mile ride! Besides my knee hurting and our asses hurting from sitting on the saddle for so long, the ride went well. We weren't really tired, just sore.

Anyway, congrats on the 40 miles! I don't care what anyone says, 40 miles is a long trip on a bike!
