It's carnage out there. Pheasants, frogs (hundreds and hundreds of flat
frogs), ducks, badgers, even a couple of deer... it would smell dreadful
if it wasn't overpowered by the overwhelming smell of manure 🙁

Norfolk really really pongs tonight...

Zummerzet always pongs. Especially Bridgewater, but the Levels in
general, too.

But here it's nothing so wholesome as manure. It's a pall of
bonfire smoke that seems to stretch for a positively biblical
span of both miles and days. Yuk!

It's been the same in Loughborough the last few weeks - someone nearby seems
to be ceremonially burning tyres once a week usually on the nice days that I
do the washing and hang it out to dry.

i suppose the opportunity to kill an animal is too good to pass up.
As for killing ducks especially, you may be amused by this:

A duck shooting club ( apparently some people think this is a hobby,
like needlework or rambling) has bought the rights to a big field on
the east side of a wetland wildlife reserve in Jacksdale . It may be
assumed that their plan is to gather at dusk and slaughter the ducks
as they make a dash for their roosts in the reserve.
I suppose that after a hard week at work it must be satisfying to just
say '' OK ,no more mr niceguy'' and let rip.

Just along from here in West Lothian there are lots of chicken "farms"
the smell from these has to be experienced to be believed.
