  1. Thanks to a thread on here a few weeks back I've finally been able to
make sense of some of my cravings. Tonight I had an ice cream and
lemonade drink, spiders we call them. Anyway, shortly after I finished
it I suddenly had a strong urge for potato chips. Fortunately we don't
have any in the house but it made me think back to this particular
thread where people were talking about trigger food. Someone mentioned
that sweet foods made them crave salty foods, and vice versa. I'd
never taken any notice of it before but I have now. Thanks to you guys
I didn't go out and buy potato chips. I'm reading this group instead
and waiting for the craving to pass :-)

  2. Erin, for me, bitter seems to dampen appetite. A white grapefruit or a glass of diet tonic water can
help me--maybe it can help you too.

  3. Oh, this is interesting. I had ice cream last night as well, then felt like something salty, so had
a Lipton chicken noodle cup of soup. I'll have to keep this in mind too.

It's yummy. My favourite though is chocolate ice cream with diet vanilla coke. Sooo yummy, and low
in points. We have the most divine low fat ice cream here and it's really well priced too. Cheaper
than most of the regular ice cream.

  11. Hey, you can have my Diet Vanilla Coke but will have real trouble adding ice cream - it froze solid
overnight in my car when the temps where I was staying hit a low of MINUS 14F ( or Minus 25
Celsius). Well, you do need some cold temps to make snow but this was a bit overboard or maybe
    UNDERboard (g)

  13. Heck, I don't need to go to any mountains for weather that cold. I just have to take out the
garbage. This morning it's minus 6F (-21C) with the predicted high above 2F (-16C). Yesterday I wore
long underwear, sweatclothes, and then hibernated in my upstairs office, testing the thermodynamics
theory that warm air rises, and ran the space heater when the warm air didn't rise fast or far
enough. I have a feeling I'll be wearing my mittens at work today.

The good thing about temps like this is that I now have a backup freezer otherwise known as my
porch. Instead of keeping my pot of soup in the fridge, I just set it out there. Yesterday when I
went to get some for lunch, I had to scoop out slush.

Trying to substitute low fat soup for the stick-to-the-ribs comfort food that I really want is a
challenge when it's so cold outside. Stay warm, happy & healthy. Julie

  16. 19C (plus) is cool? What are you normal temps? LOL We are running around in next to nothing when the
temps hit that high (66 F in the US). At the moment our temp is 24 (about 4C) ... and going lower
for the next few days. <sigh> Guess you get used to it through the years.

(The editor in me is trying so hard to resist pointing out the redundancy of "cold slush" that I'm
incapable of coming up with a rejoinder, witty or otherwise. Never mind understanding what you
