Well folks, it's time for this old pedal pounder to unsubscribe from rbr for another year. I'll be
back next July for the TDF 2004. Before I go I'd like to express my thanks to several entities for
making this one of the best in my 40+ year cycling experience.
First, I gotta thank Ullrich for showing up and doing the best job of any of the "others." I noticed
that nobody here referred to him as "schnitzel-boy" this year. Good. We wouldn't want to [censored] him
off. I hope he's back in fine form next year. Lance has to lose someday, eh?
Second, the prize for ironman of TDF 2003 has to go to Tyler Hamilton. Probably most here that have
been at the game a while have felt the pain of a broken collar-bone (clavicule?) at sometime. To
climb mountains in that condition is amazing. Surely he'll be back next year.
The OLN people have got to be congratulated and cuddled for their coverage. I hope Bobke and Gumke
hooked up early and often. I hope P&P do well in their gold mines and such in the off season.
The OLN coverage was tremendous and even the commercials were memorable. I'm going out to buy a
Trek, a Subaru, a VW, a Lincoln, some art classes for my dull kid and lots and lots of Subway
sandwiches!!!
Finally, the hat has to go off to one Lance Armstrong and the US Postal team. Next time I send
something off in the mail, I may put two stamps on it to show my support for what has to be one
of the best investments the Post Office ever made. I hope to see all of those guys back next
year as well.
So adios, rbr. Hasta la vista, baby!!
Robert
