Obviously climb Teide, starting before first light by torch as it
will be hot, there are other hills around the old caldera. Then
there is the Thor Hyerdahl (sp?) centre at the mexican style
pyramid they found there, thus proving(?) his Kon Tiki theory.
The drive up to the far north east is interesting if you like
drives. Also drive up to the national park (hire a decent car,
its a slog) and turn right past the observatory to where sweeping
bends dip down to a lower level. Get the Discovery map, its
pretty good. If you hire 4x4 there are quite a few jeep tracks,
although they are being blocked off one by one and note the
insurance status off road may be a problem.

The night sky inside the old caldera is well worth seeing, I
suggest booking dinner at the parador then just stand outside for
a while looking at this view as the stars come out in thier

Good aqueduct walk described in the Sunflower series, a great day out
if you don't suffer from vertigo.

I'd also recommend searching through the lava for the lava tubes - just
watch the head on the solid 'drips' from the ceilings.

Can recommend Teide, did it a 3 years ago, at the time if you want to
go right to the top, you needed a permit issued the day before details
below:
