Hello,
Last year in my "off season" I was playing some "touch"
football and landed on my left knee - which hurt quite a
bit. This was at the beginning of December. The pain
continued as a dull ache - especially when ascending stairs
- immediately above the knee.
It slowly recovered to just hurting on stairs - especially
if my joints were cold. I began to lift and stretch and
found that it helped in the recovery.
Fast forward to today, and I have put in a very healthy four
months of base training, but I am now starting to feel the
dull ache again. It is very limited to a 1 inch by 1/2 inch
strip just above the knee. Putting pressure on that area
feels good.
It does not hurt at all while I run. Even if I do hills.
But the pain intensifies once I stop running. I don't
really notice any swelling, but my knees do turn a little
red after running.
On the bike I am aware of it, and it hurts if I have to push
a heavy gear (when the terrain forces me to drop below 80rpm
- I normally push around 95). This is really the only place
I feel that it limits me - biking on the hills.
I do feel it as I sit here at the computer - even with my
legs stretched out. And of course on the stairs.
Any thoughts?
