it is interesting to note the descrepancies in the info they give while commenting i watched the live coverage of sunday's stage, and then i watched the expanded later on as well (i was bored). phil and paul had noted that voeckler was in worse condition than he was last year and that it was a shame that he wasnt in great shape. on the other hand bob said that he was the exact same rider in the exact same shape but was doing poorly because he didnt have the yellow jersey for motivation. bob is an idiot. im glad that i can see the earlier coverage with people who know what cycling is.
Bob is funny and he knows his stuff as he is also a former pro. He was correct about Voekler - he was riding "all out" in the mountains to keep yellow for an extra day - this year he has no reason to kill himself in the mountains just to finish 53rd or whatever on GC - it's better to save energy and go for breakaways, which he did. Al is the real idiot.
Back to Phil and Paul - here's the "drinking" game (not that I would encourage drinking, you can get killed if you take a shot of *anything*) that someone posted a while ago:
knock one back every time Phil says something and Paul immediately repeats it as the intro to what he has to say:
ie:
Phil: "...and Armstrong is riding like a man possessed."
Paul: "Armstrong is riding like a man possessed, and nobody in the peloton can keep pace with him."
Every time Paul says "Left-tennant" instead of "Leutenant". Take a double dose if he actually says "Leutenant" - he started doing it this year.
Every time Phil says "Leaky-Gas" only to be followed by Paul pronoucning it as "Liqui-Gas".
Someone "lives to fight another day".
Some is in "a spot of a bother".
Someone wins "by the skin of their teeth", also "by the width of the tire"
Paul says "and out went the lights".
Phil calls O'Grady "Stuey" and/or refers to his freckles as in "I can see his freckles from here" while commenting on the sprint
Phil calls someone over the age of 30 "young" - like Rasmussen
Paul says "mate"
Someone "has popped". Double the dosage if it's a fun refers to Popovich. (or "didn't pop" works just as well).

Phil starts a sentence with "Indeed..."
Someone "Showed them a clean pair of wheels"
Any reference to the "heads of state"
Someone "stomping the pedals" ("dancing on the pedals" was already mentioned)
Words "Ullrich" and "Huge Gear" or "Massive Gear" used in the same sentence.
Paul says "I completely and utterly agree", or anything esle "completely and utterly" for that part (amazing, etc.)
Paul refers to the "suitcase of courage"

Phil says "Oh, and here he goes again!" when someone attacks.
Whenever Paul starts a sentence with "You know, Phil..."
Every time Paul confuses the two riders - like calling Hincapie "Lance", or mistaking Garzelli for Backstedt. Double the dosage if Paul corrects him.
In fact drink for every correction from Paul - whether it's "who was the last dutchman to win a stage" pissing contest or an argument about whether Lance should outsprint Basso when there are no time bonuses left (as Paul pointed out).
Any reference to "elastic" - "They have stretched the elastic", "The elastic has snapped" etc.
Someone or something is "viciously cruel"

any time Phil uses a term "policeman" or "ticket collector" for a guy who doesn't work in a group and proceeds to explain what the term means
Phil apologizes for "that little bit of picture breakeup"
