Tassimo pod coffee any good?

I don't know a thing about that brand of single brew coffee maker.
You might ask over at alt.coffee
I love my little french press for coffee making. :-)

Convenience. That is the only benefit that I can see, the quality is good,
but not as good as fresh ground quality beans.

If you truly enjoy your coffee now, you won't be overly impressed. If you
are stopping most mornings for a $1.50 coffee at the drive up window, this
is a better idea.

quietly retired them and gone back to freshly ground beans.

I think everyone I know who bought into the pod coffee maker thing has
quietly retired them and gone back to freshly ground beans.

I'm assuming that Tassimo is what is known in Europe as Netissimo.

If you want a reasonable cup of coffee w/o too much hassle then they are
fine. Just a question of finding a brand of the "pods" that you like the
taste of. My gripe about mine (Philips) is the temperature so what I do
is to run it first w/o a pod and let that warm the machine and cup, then
when it has heated up again, I make the coffee.

I wouldn't waste my money, Mark. If you're used to coffee made from
freshly ground beans, you're likely to be disappointed in the taste.
There's no comparison. You'd just be trading off convenience for
comprimised flavor.

However, I have a friend who has one of these machines and loves it, but
for him it was a step above what he had been drinking.

I have not bothered to get a pod coffee maker for a number of reasons.
While I realize that they can make a good single cup of coffee I was
concerned about the logistics of keeping a supply of coffee on hand at a
reasonable price. I am not keen on committing myself to buying coffee pods
from one particular company. There is only one store around here where I
have seen the pods available for sale, and they were for one particular
machine. So thanks. If I need a pot of coffee I will use the drip machine.
If I want a single cup of coffee I will make espresso or use the French
press.

I own a Nespresso, and I love the coffee it makes. Here in Switzerland
they sell the Tassimo - if you like true Italian expresso, forget it -
it's more like filter coffee :-(

job that I had to get to that I couldn't get up a few minutes early to grind
my coffee. For some, time is of the essence, and time is money. For others
time is just time to waste thinking about how not to waste time.

I have used my Senseo coffee pot for about 3 years now. I really like
it. I am not a huge coffee person, and making a pot of coffee was
always a waste. I really don't want to develop the 4 cup a day habbit
either. I just buy their standard coffee pods Senseo puts out. I
like this coffee better than a drip, because it seems to be steamed,
and I like the coffee foam on top. If you were a person that drank
several cups a day this wouldn't be the best choice for you. If you
are an occassional coffee drinker I think this works out well.

We have had conflicting reports on the Tassimo but I'm a great
believer in you get what you pay for. Price wise have you looked at
the lower end of the Gaggia range, or the X3 & X6 of Franncis
Francis ?

Some coffee pods produce a fantastic coffee and yes there are
quick,easy and aliot less messy, the down side is it can work out more
expensive, If you go for agood espresso machine that can take pods as
well that would be my recc,

Have you ever consider a small bean to cup machine?
