I'm two weeks away from my first century ride, trying to reconcile
conflicting advice about how hard to train.
I've more or less been following a training program like the ones detailed
here:
http://www.diablocyclists.com/RiderTips/EasyCenturyTrainingProgram.htm
http://www.diablocyclists.com/RiderTips/StrenghtCenturyTrainingProgram.htm
basically, ride 6 days a week at various paces, gradually increasing mileage
until the "long" ride is about 70 miles and the total mileage is about 165
per week.
However, I have also read advice to taper off in the weeks before the ride.
The above training schedules don't "taper" until a few days before.
I am on track to do this ride. I figure the only way I could screw things up
would be to overtrain or strain something or be tired out day of.
So I am wondering just what I should do to be in top form two weeks from
now.
Any suggestions?
