To be politically correct this could have been a male driver as well. It just happens that every car experience ive had just happened to be a women driver. A trend??

I've been on both sides of this one. When I have been riding I've had cars do really silly things around me. Also, once driving my car...some cyclist stoped next to me yelling and screaming at me for something I DID TO HIM.........the truth is I never even saw the guy until he was next to my car screaming like a crazy person. I've also heard other stories of drivers...........having cyclists go balistic because of some perceived attack by the cyclist???? These stories included the cyclist sticking his hand in the persons sun roof and pounding on the car????

No one out there driving a car is looking to pick off cyclists just for the fun of it........ It is just one of the hazards of riding. I think it is a lack of education on both sides......we are not sure how to share the roads?????

Well, most cars are not out to get cyclists, but there are a few immature individuals. I've been spat at, horns blarred at me (not just the honking to let me to know a car is behind me, which pisses me off anyways), arms purposely pushed out hoping to knock me off, and then of course that jack ass who sticks his entire body out trying to scare you.

actually, i would disagree. there was one time one a car coming up from behind really fast was aiming directly for me down the shoulder of the road. i could hear the tires on the debris, so i was able to get out of the way in time. as they passed they shouted and flipped me off. i have no doubt that they were trying to run me over.

I have major problems with them. My own cycling is 100% safe most of the time and I follow all the safety rules. But I get really angry over the way people drive around here.
Last week I was cycling home at 6.00 a.m. and had to pass a staionary lorry that had parked on the road opposite my driveway. Something told me the driver who had parked there was asking to create an accident since he'd taken up the whole road. Foolishly I ignored my radar-intuition to stop in my tracks but I followed on, signalled, overtook the vehicle and pulled to the middle of the road to turn into my drive.
Guess what happened?
Some idiot in a car overtook the lorry as well without looking what might be ahead and would have run straight into me where I was in the middle of the road. He didn't see me since the lorry blocked the entire view of what was ahead. I felt the car graze my arm but only by a few centimeters. Naturally, I was angry with the lorry driver for creating a hazzard and the idiot who overtook it without looking what was in front.
One of my pet hates is drivers who just pull up and park at the side of a busy main road so you're forced to overtake. The classic scenario, of course, is somebody getting out of the vehicle at the very moment you pass and slamming a car door into your bike or somebody walking through the gap left by the car straight in front of you.
So far I've never been knocked off but each near miss heightens my safety level and awareness of the problem.

I've been hit once, guy came round the corner without indication and it was a yellow light, i went flying onto the bonnet then just got up got bike, and he gave me his details etc... anyway the thing that annoys me the most is when there's a car behind you and it wants to take the next left, and instead of waitig 2 or 3 more seconds for you to pass the road the have to over take you then brake right in front of you, that really gets me annoyed.

SORRY, I live near Los Angeles..................I've never heard of a lorry stationary or otherwise.............what is that?

If a person got hit by a car it would be the cars fault? so if something happend to you there insurance would pay for it?

Since my last rant on this theme, I win the prize. Yep, I got knocked off my bike by a driver. I had full right of way, was plainly visible but the idiot behind the wheel drove straight at me, braked, skidded, brushed my side and made me swerve. My bike-handling skill must be getting better as I just about managed to avoid toppling over.

Had I been hit full on I'd have had a few bruises but, more importantly, my bike would have been scratched or damaged.

Drivers in this area suck!
