I've just got an upgrade kit for my Tacx Excel. I have done a system test (Laptop, XP, 800 Mhz, 256 Mb) and everything checks out OK apart from my graphics card which has a low polygon rate. I have changed all the software settings to low detail. Is there anything else I need to change?
I'm gonna try updating my graphics card drivers.
However when I start the 10 second countdown it actually takes about 20. Obviously the software is runnning very slow (I notice it while selecting options).
Is this due to my poor graphics card performance (ATI Rage 128) or is something else the cause. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm afraid but I've encountered the same problem with my laptop, it's ideed a problem of Graphic Card I have bought a used desktop PIII and I've equipped it with a Nvidia Ge Force card (32MB) and all works very very well!
If you want to continue to use your laptop you can used only catalyst software, very useful for specific training session but a little bit boring in respct to virtual reality

I actually wished I could have done this on Saturday, when we had yet another powercut. Car alternators are about 90% efficient (unlike bike dynamos) so at "fast touring" pace I could have knocked out at least enough to run the TV and a small lamp until the juice came back on!

Thanks for the help. Managed to get it running OK by updating my video drivers although still have to run it with some of the graphoc options turned off.
Yes, I could buy another bike for the price of an Tacx i- magic but as already have 4 I don't think the wife would be too impressed.
I find the turbo training is a great way of keepiing fit during the winter months and hopefully the imagic interface will make it less boring.. Also I commute to work every day so don't always fancy going back out in the dark and the rain to get some more miles in.
