should i just go for a new rim and let it be?
Go for a new rim.
pah!
Quoted message said:Quoted message said:Almost anything can be pulled round and true BUT it'll not stay that
way for long and will probably eat spokes at an alarming rate.
maybe. but i might as well try 😉
Quoted message said:Hang on, that smells a little fishy... rims are pretty flexible,
especially from side to side when there are no spokes to hold them
still. If the rim doesn't have a bad kink, it should true up pretty
well.
well i just had another crack at it. lots better now 😉
Quoted message said:You just need plenty of tension (which doesn't kill spokes - too
much tension pulls the nipple through the rim, so too much tension will
kill a rim before it kills spokes...)
need to get some replacement nipples me thinks.

hmmm ... guess what my problem was?
off by one. thats right the damn spokes were one off in the hub.
pulled out all the leading spokes on one side, then moved all the
trailing spokes back one hole, then put back in all the leading
spokes... t'was much better. so did the same for the other side of the
wheel! YAAAAY!
now, thats the wheel building done... now for a gentle art of wheel truing!
cheers,
Kim
~ thats about 9 times that wheel has been despoked and laced up in two days!
