  1. So far, I have the following made and ready:

    Mama Stamberg's Cranberry Relish
    Whole berry cranberry sauce
    Two sweet-potato pies
    One apple pie
One spice cake (gave the other away on a whim)

Today, I make a bunch of pumpkin pies, pre-cook everything else I can
think of, and clean the house. What's everyone else up to?

Dang, you're way up on me! I have to cook everything tomorrow. The hubby
gets paid today, so he'll do the shopping tonight when he's done with work.
I'm working tonight until 10:00 pm, so that leaves cooking out for me until
tomorrow. Thank GOD we're smoking the bird which leaves the oven free for
me to use for all the sides. Some things taste better after they've sat for
a couple of days, though, so I wish I could have had a head start, but, oh
well. Menu: Smoked turkey, collard greens with ham hocks, mashed potatoes,
real cranberry sauce (one of those things that tastes better after it sits),
green bean casserole, red cabbage (another thing that needs to "marry"😉,
cornbread stuffing, asparagus and peas are on the menu. Just the two of us.
    Can you say left-overs? <g>

My ham is in the oven as I write. The smell is about to make me rip
open the oven door and start gorging myself!

This afternoon I'm going to make a Million Dollar pie to also take to
the feast. We do turkey day at her house.

  4. the cranberry sauce is going in the fridge right now, I just went to
the local bakery and bought a loaf of white bread for the stuffing,
next on the list: sweet potato pie!

Due to a recent physical impairment we are cutting way back this year.
Only 1 guest which will make 3 of us + 2 cats.

A roasted turkey with sage, onion & olive stuffing, mashed yams, 2
bowels, one with bananas for me and one with orange juice for the
"elderly relative", boiled new potatoes with turkey - wine gravy, a
squash soup, made yesterday, Brussels sprouts of course (though i am
being lobbied to make my cauliflower with butter, garlic & lemon) and
much to the "elderly relatives" delight we will be using cans of
cranberry relish this year rather than fresh. I usually make a
favourite childhood dish of canned french cut green beans, drained and
served in a cheddar cheese sauce with paprika but am trying to restrain
myself this year, just one thing less to do.

I made 1 special pie for tomorrow, a pumpkin pie from a can but with a
layer of cream cheese on the bottom and the top sprinkled with chopped
walnuts flavoured with lemon zest, and 75% of a chocolate cake i made
    the other day.

Breaking out the last of the 98 Chardonnay and a bottle of Merlot.
Champagne with various cheeses and cracker & some home made humus for
appetizers and coffee and cake afterwards.

(Note to self: pick up some beer to day)

For entertainment i have been abel to procure an English subtitled video
tape of a Japanese edition of Alexander Jaderowskies (sp?) "The Holy
Mountain" which the others are very much looking forward to viewing due
to my excessive admiration for and praising of the film.

Hmmm, let's see. In the "already made" category I've got Cranberry
Agrodolce, Persimmon Pudding, Pumpkin Fudge ice cream. The rye rolls are
proofing right now, and in about 20 minutes they'll be ready to go in the
oven. Next up: Bob T's Roasted Garlic Bread Pudding, which no one has
asked me to bring, but I'm doin' it nonetheless!

    And I think that's it . . .

Mostly under control here. I did a bit of grocery shopping this
morning and picked up the turkey from the butcher. I'm trying a fresh
one this year; let's see if it's worth the extra $$$.

Pies (chocolate, pumpkin, apple) were done this afternoon. Butternut
squash and sweet potatoes are cooked and ready to be dressed up. I
just finished drying the bread for the stuffing.

I thought I had cranberry relish but it seems that I don't. So I'm
experimenting by simmering craisins, sugar, and some leftover
raspberries. If that's inedible, we'll skip the cranberries.

So the main thing to do tomorrow will be the turkey and stuffing,
gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans (plain, no casserole 🙂).

Lead me not into temptation... I can find it myself!

  8. I made Paula Deen's pumpkin gooey butter cake this evening. It smells
wonderful. I'm trying not to sample it. I bet my husband will want a
taste when he gets home. His birthday is November 24, so this is a
pumpkin pie and birthday cake combined.

I hope you can say "leftovers". Don't eat all that food in one sitting!
Your freezer is your friend 😉
