  1. I'm trying something different (for me). I chucked in the
food processor 4 cloves of garlic, a quatrer of a red
onion, some peppercorns and a bit of oil oil (EVOO) and
made a puree which I rubbed all over my T-Bone steak. The
peppercorns didn't get cracked as I expected them to, but
what the hell. Letting it sit for 4 hrs on the steak.
Should add a nice flavour for supper tonight. Baked spud,
t-bone, corn, grilled asparagus and a t- bone...does it get
    any better?

Oh and fresh strawberries cut up into strongly vanilla
    flavoured whipped cream for dessert.

With an appropriate wine, yes it does.

I've tried similar marinades on flank steak but the taste
after grilling was as if the marinade really didn't impart
much flavor what-so-ever. Not sure if I didn't let it sit
long enough (6-8 hours) or what - I usually just stick with
a Soy Sauce based marinade (Dale's works wonders). For T-
Bones and the like it's usually just salt n' pepper...

I was kind of wondering about the marinade as well: Don't
you want to cook the steak at high heat to sear it? And
don't EVOO and garlic respond poorly to high heat?

I admit that I haven't TRIED cooking a steak with the
marinade described, so it could have come out magnificently.
But if it was me and I wanted those flavors, I would have
used "regular" olive oil in the marinade and pushed garlic
slices into slits in the meat. That way the garlic is
somewhat protected from scorching and turning bitter, and it
seems like the garlic flavor would permeate the meat better
(cf. Chicago-style Italian beef). Or I would have roasted
the garlic separately, mashed it with EVOO, and brushed it
on the steak after it was cooked.

As I said... it was new to me. There was some flavour added
to the steak , but not as much as sprinkling with garlic
powder 5 minutes prior to grilling. All in all the meal
tasted good... 4 out 5 stars. It gets 1 of those stars
    because I learnt something.

Imperiial Margarine's ad was the "Fit for a king" theme.

"It's not nice to fool mother nature" was Chiffon margarine:
"If you think it's butter and it's not...it's Chiffon"

I was 6-8 years old and even I remember the Chiffon
    commercials.
