  1. If you're not already living the dream vicariously through TD's Vuelta
a Pais Vasco diary, here's a synopsis from stage 2:

He missed the move, couldn't hang with his Johann appointed mentor,
Paolo Salvoldelli, and ended up t-boning another rider on a 20% uphill
    grade.

If he keeps up these shenanigans he's not making the tour team. Unless
maybe, he ups his hematocrit (with the CAT altitude tent or course).

    Did he open a gap?

  3. I read an article in ProCycling that featured T.D., Cunego, Rasumussen and
Jukka Vastatanta (sp?) that said T.D. had something like a 400+ watt/kg
power output that lasted longer than Lance.

Is T.D. something like the little little engine that couldn't? I mean, the
guy's got more physical ability than most but can't seem to really utilize
    it.

Maybe he's got the ex-mountain biker syndrome....the distances and speed are
    hard to learn to handle.

No need, the one where his brain should be is more than ample.

  5. Dr Phil

The guy has gifts or talents or whatever you want to call it. He also
went from Cat 3 to Pro so quickly that he never learned how to ride in
a pack, take a corner, handle the bicycle on the road, etc...... And it
may take him far too long at that level for management's liking. A la
    Fassa.

    PhilDo,
Good post - Those numbers would mean he's actually a lot better than
the L-Factor. If my rudimentary math skills are up to par that would
have him putting out roughly 24,000 watts. I hope you read your briefs
a bit more critically than you do cycling rags.

That actually explains a lot. It's not that he hasn't learnt normal bike
handling skills, it's all the torque on the frame that sends him in every
    direction.

  8. DA,

I did mistype that. You are very, very acute. I believe what I meant to
write was something like a 400 watt average watt output.

I don't have the magazine in front of me, but I do recall the article saying
that Danielson had more power than Lance's watt/kg output.

And hey, if I can average 20 mph. on a 40-45 mile ride these days without
churning a huge gear I'm happy. But I can only do that in board-flat
Dallas. I don't purport to be a physiological expert anyhow.

I'm amazed they didn't exercise due diligence!

So are the plaintiffs going to get socked by the penalties or do they have
one more last ditch chance to drop the case?

They've already been fined twice and still re-pleaded (!). They should have
dropped after that - they're no match for Armstong's legal resources who
brought in a specialist to tear their case to ribbons. The hired guns were
probably laughing until they cried after reading this truly dumbass
lawsuit. (and dreaming of big screen tvs.) ;-)

    jj

  12. Actually, Armstrong is the Plaintiff. Anderson is the defendant and
    counter-plaintiff.

This looks like Anderson tried to blackmail Armstrong.

CP is busy right now and it looks like you've gotten a little too cozy
so let's get this straight here and now:

You're a phat phuck, phil. And while you've displayed an amount of
impudence that matches this generous girth, you possess an equally vast
yet diametrically opposing amount of propriety on this thread's
contents sufficient to warrant the meekest of comment.

So don't let our public bashing of the Danielsons or the Subways give
you a false sense of entitlement to join in, 'cause you don't have it.
Slog through the trenches and gut out enough chits to clip in at the
line at any race of your choosing on the UCI road calendar then come
back here and tell us how things are here and there compared to this
and that. In the meantime let's have you adhere to the balance of
powers our forefathers so prudently granted us and contain your
judgements to the approprate branch of threads in rbr.

And since you probably still don't get it, despite the anonymous
monikers you see, the few pros here know who's who. We bash because
we've been on teams with each other in the past or will next year or
the year after and we'll all get along - despite the smack-talk and for
good or bad we're all bros in the end. You haven't, you won't, you
don't and in the end you're not.

So enjoy yourself here, sit back down on the couch, make yourself a
drink, chat with some friends and keep this in mind:
Know where you stand and post accordingly.
And be mindful that the rbr free pass just expired.

What makes you think we give a [censored] about some third rate
pro? Frankly, I'd rather hear about the local crit gossip

In addition, some of the people he's "tuning in to the real deal" have
raced in other sports, or are former athletes who have turned to cycling
after successful careers and are familiar with the racing scene.

I do think there's a fair amount of humor - you just have to read between
    the lines.

At least it's not like on the MMA forums where the guy challenges you to a
deathmatch(tm) and threatens to show up on your doorstep at 2am.

These guys will just race you on a bike until you puke if you show up and
confront them - and then if you have anything left ask you to go get drunk
    together. That's a good thing. ;-)

$5 to the first person who names a former world champion from another sport
who now races with us hacks in southern california.

  20. Coming from crud/[censored] like you your advice is meaningless, unless you
