Syncros skewers

Those were junky skewers, certainly not worth going to a lot of trouble
to find.

I have these, and skewers from Campagnolo, and about 10 other makers. Get
Shimano. Best ever in use and design.

And, as far as I can tell, every Shimano skewer from Sora/Deore right to the
top of the line is the same in terms of construction. They are all good.

So, you could buy a complete Deore hubset, that includes the excellent
Shimano skewers for about the same price as the your average dysfunctional
boutique skewer set. Then you could build a set of wheels around the Deore
hubs, because they are better than all of the expensive, poorly designed and
poorly sealed cartridge bearing hubsets flogged by the small-fry boutique
manufacturers.

I am not aware of any good quality skewers that use titanium shafts.

Since the yield strength of steel is considerably higher than titanium,
it seems to me that Ti is not a good material for this application.

Salsa's are well liked but I prefer Tranz-X's mass-produced in taiwan
skewers (Tranz-X is the main brand name for JD Components), particularly
the ones with the clicking noise from the spring-lock mechanism when they
open/close
correctly. The cam-action on them is of a higher mechanical advantage than
most
other CNC'ed skewers like the Salsas, and they close firmly without any
undue
wheel flexing, even with suspension forks.
