The one good aspect of the Cross City Tunnel project was supposed be better conditions for cyclists and pedestrians on the surface.

To appease pampered motorists your government has, once again, spurned those responsible members of the travelling public who adopted the Active Transport message.

Scrapping any bikelane, cycleway, other cycling facility to "...give
drivers alternative routes to the toll road...." seems to me to be a
bit short sighted and in this case possibly bloody expensive. I
would've thought that encouringing more people to use the cycleway and
leave the car at home would be a much better idea. But then, what would
I know I'm only a Victorian and a non motorised cycling one at
that...:-)

One question that must be asked, who in the hell is supposed to be running
Sydney?

The State Government has overridden the City Council and all the good work
that the Clover Moore local government has put in with Cycle lanes in the
busy CBD area to give everyone a fair go then the Iemma Government now wants
to scrap these cycle lanes to try to undo the damage it got itself sucked
into.

Who is responsible for the CBD road system, the City Council or the RTA and
does the the Iemma Government have the right to over ride the council on
this? If so, what's the point of the City Council, just hand it over to Mr
Iemma as it's not much point Clover doing things for the city when it'll be
overridden in this way.

I wonder if even the council has been advised of Iemmas intensions before he
made the announcement....Clover...get stuck into them!!

suit.

Boulevarde of broken dreams. Cyclists are pawns in a game of serious
bastardy between Iemma and the tunnel owners, none of whom are interested in
reducing traffic. Can we sue them for breach of the conditions of consent?

I know, a mass demo! Malcolm Fraser and 70 other prominent Australians
will get on a bike and ride up and down William St a few times. Should get
Iemma to back down. Or maybe if the tunnel goes bankrupt cyclists can have
it.

Ironic that to get to Coluzzi's you would probably have to go up Neild
Ave, back down Boundary to the point you came out of the tunnel just so
you could get skittled going up the hill on Craigend because the bike
lane is not there any more.
Next you will be banned from parking your bike on the footpath in
Victoria Street (or charged a parking fee).
