Have fun & be patient. There will be a lot of people (they're hoping to get 10,000 this year) most of whom don't get out on a bike
very often. Get to the start very early or very late else you'll end up either walking or stopping often in the first few km.

The ride itself is pretty easy with no hills to speak of.

Don't forget to go to the Bike Show after to look at all the p0rn.

The bike show is the reason I'm in Sydney. Can't wait!!! 😄

Just a quick note to say I had a great time in Sydney. Spent ALL day last friday at the bike show. Thanks to my favourite LBS in Syd who gave me a trade pass.

Sunday's Sydney Spring Cycle was good fun! Lots 'n lots of happy cyclists. It was the first time I've cycled in a mass event and I enjoyed it.

Two gripes:

1. Teenage boys who cycle all over the place. One knocked my wife (who was already very nervous riding in a large group) off her bike. To his credit he apologised profusely and there was no injury or damage. I put this down to them being teenage boys... what can you say?

2. Roadies in full team gear, expensive bikes and who should know better impatiently yelling "Passing!!!! Passing!!!!" at everything on a bike and weaving their way, at high speed, through 8 year old girls and old people... this REALLY [censored] me off! If you want to race go and race somewhere else... I thought this was meant to be a FUN ride.

Thankfully there were only a couple of these idiots and most people seemed to be having a great time.... I'll do another one any day. Thanks BikeNSW and everyone else involved.

Yeah one of the reasons I didn't go this year as it's always the same
scenario, Lycra clad Lance Armstrong wannabe's tearing in amongst amateur,
novice and family riders(kids) making it damn right dangerous for all
concerned when you got 10,000 riders participating.

I agree Dominic, it is suppose to be a fun ride, not tour de bloody france.
There are plenty of opportunities in Sydney for these people to ride fast
but not at this type of event. It just got too crowded and packed in for my
liking. I've been on 3 of these rides in the past 4 yrs but declined this
yr. I nearly got pushed into a pack of young riders last year due to some of
these clowns on their ego-cycles, lucky to be able to unclip ontime to stop
myself from falling into them.
I will say though, there are some fairdinkum riders who make sure they are
first off and way out in front so they can go as fast as they want without
jeopardising the majority. Other than that..it's a good day out!!
