  1. Haha, gotcha. The title's a bit misleading, but this IS what I swim in.
This is the most formfitting thing I own, so you can see how much I
_really_ still have to lose. Sorry about the quality of the photos, my
    sister is a horrible photographer.

I think you're looking great! I see a big difference between your first
pictures and this one. Yeah, you've still got a few pounds to go, but I
know you're working your ass off (literally), and that you'll succeed.

  7. True. I'm not really concentrating on losing weight right now, I'm mostly
focused on not gaining any back since I quit smoking about a week ago. I
am exercising more, though. It's more fun now that I can breathe.

You're looking at the wrong side of things, I think. Just look at how
much you've already LOST! Your swimsuit shows your huge

I agree... Michelle looks like a "normal" person instead of an overweight
    person now.

I tend to classify people into 3 catagories... normal, overweight, obese.
You look normal. That's awesome. 🙂

By the way, have you seen this? It's Jamie Lee Curtis - a photo she wanted
taken of herself with no touchup because she said the image that the media
portrayed of her looking perfect was unfair to women.

Arrrrghhhh!!! That's exactly why I posted that pic, so you and other very
nice, kind, sweet, yet misguided people could see that yes, I am still
overweight, and yes, I still have some work to do. Look especially in the
profile, my butt and tummy are poking out quite a bit, and you can see the
ripples on the backs of my thighs from the extra fat there. Am I obese?
No. Am I disgusting? Not in my opinion. Am I normal? Maybe normal in
the sense that most of America seems to be overweight, so in that case I
fit right in. Am I healthy, in good shape? No, not yet.

Luna, I understood what you were getting at when you posted your picture,
because I remember reading posts by you saying that the people around you -
the people who know you in real life - have been telling you to stop losing,
and you don't feel you are there yet.

That's fine - not that my opinion matters, but I don't think you are heading
into dangerous territory by wanting to lose more at this stage.

However, looking at your pictures, I would say that no matter how trim you
get, your "butt and tummy [will] pok[e] out" to some degree - you are built
with generous curves and will never look like a stick figure. I am sure you
know all this and don't need some usenet stranger to tell you, but please
don't use a flat stomach as your gauge of ultimate success.

Luna has good arms and thighs. Yes, I agree with her about the tummy is
sticking out. The bum is OK though. The bum is apparently to a great extent
filled up with muscles, so it's not all fat as some of us always imagined.
Reading a book about swimming, they said people should use their bum to swim (to
roll their body) because the bum muscle is the largest muscle in the body. This
info might be wrong and I have no degree in meds, so take this info with a grain
    of salt.

I think Ig has a point about posture. It might be the angle the photo is being
taken, but it seems like you're putting a lot of your upper body weight on the
muscles on your back. It seems like the muscles on your back are well trained,
but the ones in the front aren't doing their job, so you're leaning towards the
back. It's important to have both sets of muscles working well so that your
spine is well supported. I was recommended to do some mild crunches (50 on the
front, 20 on each side) daily to build the belly muscles up. I've been slacking
    though...

I have exactly the opposite opinion, that it is her back muscles that
are less well developed. A fix for that would be rows, pushups,
assisted pullups, etc. A bit of training for better posture would also
    help.

I used to have a pretty awful posture myself, but it became much
better after a whole lot of pullups, pushups, crunches etc.

    Oh, I'm not. I don't expect a perfectly flat stomach, I'm a woman, not a
10 year old boy, lol. I like the way my stomach looks when I "suck in."
There's still a bit of a pooch, but it's not hanging over the top of my

Thanks! I have been doing more exercise the past week, since I quit

without feeling like I would die. Granted, I can't go for a long time yet,
