  1. DF'ers and benters slinging barbs at one another is ho hum these days. Recently I got a chance to
participate barb slinging with a different group. A group of Uni cyclests. A friend of mine and I
went for a short inner city ride .He was on my EZ3 and I was on my FX. When we rode through the park
we stopped to watch[from a distance] a group of uni cyclests. They were riding up & down some
stairs, jumping up and off the concrete benchs and hopping or bouncing in one place. My friend and I
were enjoying the show when one of the 1 wheelers noticed us. He rode up to us and started flinging
some barbs about two and three wheels. I countered with the uni's being single minded and having a
one track[wheel] mind. He got offended and I started to laugh while reminding him that he rode up to
us and started the S#$^. Wheeeeeeee!!!!

How about DIYing an anciente olde trike from 80s article?

Construction article on Mother Earth News 2F1R homebrew trike with specs, parts list and drawings.

This article is available online at the Mother Earth News website.

    Here's the link:

Someone became very upset with me for daring to post the above reference to this "quaint but
    obsolete" design.

Had to remind it that some of us have limited funding with which to "roll our own." I have to make
do with 500USA$ per month. No slack there. So Mother's Trike is just my cuppa tea!

  3. A friend of mine built one of these about 2 years ago. He had kept the dog eared Mother Earth News
issue for years, deciding to build after seeing a Greenspeed.

He did make several changes before building, including integrating the seat into the frame for
increased rigidity and using standard wheels instead of building your own "mags". It weighs about 48
pounds. I rode it in a parade once and someone snapped a picture of me.
www.doctorvision.com/catrike/drdave.jpg It actually rides quite well and has good steering geometry.

When all was said and done he had spent about $400 even with a lot of bartering and pulling parts
from trash bin bikes. Dave "Dean Arthur" <[email hidden]> wrote in message

No "someone" became very upset with you because you sent me a lot of mails with this link even when
the topic of the thread didn't merit it. Nothing to do with the trike... it was the spamtactics
that annoyed me. And I think I wasn't the only one. You're the only person here I've also killfiled
    in Hotmail.

    My apologies.

I don't know how many others have 'bent aspirations way beyond economic means to satisfy them as do
I so was spreading the word as much as possible.

Will put you on my "email only if requested" list.

Again, I apologize for being irksome.
