ta-da!
Wow, fancy team kit you got on!
Of what was locally available, it was the only summer wear that came in
my size.
It also had the advantage of being cheap. Coming from the Giant store,
as an owner of a Giant bike, riding in an event sponsored by the Giant
store, I only had to pay 200rmb ($25).
Quoted message said:It's pimpin, and thanks for the picture, Marian, but now we want to see
you get in good with whatever local racing club there is, because no kit
would be cooler than the club uniform of an amateur Chinese team.
I'm in good with them but I've got a long way to go before even
dreaming of trying to race. I once managed to keep up with the
training paceline for almost a whole kilometer. I've since stopped
trying and if I show up on time for the start of the ride base my
efforts on how far I've gotten since they last passed me.
Everyone seems to be wearing either Giant or Shimano. Winter Giant
looks like summer Giant but has some blue stripes going on in it too.
Regardless of whether it is winter wear or summer wear Shimano is white
and blue or white and red.
There is also a neon green jersey with striped black shorts for Merida
(a Chinese brand almost but not quite as good as Giant). Since bike #6
was a Merida and cause neon green is a cool color I wouldn't mind
having one of those but the Merida store people have been exceptionally
rude (I think they don't realize I understand what they are saying)
whenever I come in unaccompanied by a translator and I don't want to
give that store my business.
The people who have actually been in race events sometimes may have
extra sponsors on their clothing. I was somewhat confused the first
time I saw æµ·å—人民医院 (Hainan People's Hospital) printed on one
guy's jersey right underneath the place where it says Selle Italia.
The store also has some exorbitantly priced "famous team" jerseys and
one plain yellow jersey that just says æµ·å£ (the name of the city).
Since we all basically have the same clothing, a lot of people have
attacked their clothing with magic markers and prominently written
their name on it in three or four places.
Since seing Bohdi Bikes 上海飞毛腿 Shanghai Flying Hairy Legs
jersey, I kind of want to get together with some of my fellow students
who bike and see if the school will let us print a Hainan University
jersey. Course the first thing is to do would be to find out where
they can get done and how much they would cost.
