Not I. Probably doing the Southdowns Randonnee instead. 100km from
Ringmer, up into the Ashdown Forest then down across Pevensy(?) Marsh
and up past the Long Man of Wilmington.

yep; nice ride, done it once (my first ever official 100k), and as it's
the same day as L2B it should be hot (which does not bode well for the
Corker but as MSeries says, good training for the Alps)

Clearly Sir did not do the L2B in 2004. I didn't either, but as grate
frend gNick and I shivered under a tree halfway up the west face of
Hartside, watching England disappearing rapidly behind a curtain of
rain, he voiced the wish that the brace of my cow-orkers doing L2B at
the time would also be getting a thorough dousing. We then started to
build an ark.

Subsequent enquiries revealed that Lindsey and Martin did indeed get
quiet horribly damp :-)

Hoh yus. The trouble with the L2B is that the vast majority of
entrants are on possibly their only cycle ride of the year taking
anything longer than 10 minutes. Consequently many are horribly
unprepared. Which explains the hordes of people trying to stay warm
and dry that year by wearing bin liners. Unless it was a re-wossname
of yer actual punk explosion.

I have heard stories of bicycles with the H*lf*rds labels still
attached.

Actually Sir did, and Sir got a little damp around his Nutfield Marsh

My 8-9 times ride mate was one such; on the last occasion he turned up
with his two teenage daughters, I left them at the start and met them
at Turners Hill...
on the way back from Brighton.

or tandem) and more importantly, taking it in The Motor. Hmm, or
maybe riding to the start.

of course such dastardlyness does not apply to the Corker on account of
they ripped up the rails to Midhurst many years ago.

as a resident of Sussex you doubtless know which roads crossing the L2B
to avoid that day (shame none of the others do)
