suspendsion ring unicycle

To me this looks like:

A unicycle with a suspension hub, with added handlebars and trailing
"dog wheel".

OK, so remove the handlebars and trailing wheel. -We -all know that
handlebars like that would not help you to ride a unicycle, and might
even be dangerous. They are for novelty value.

The trailing wheel is further evidence that this machine is a novelty
toy, not a proper unicycle.

So, we've cut away the fripperies: what do we have? A unicycle with a
disc brake (brakes on unicycles don't need to be as er... sudden... as
a disc brake can be) and a suspension hub.

There's nothing clever about having a brake on a unicycle - it's a
readily available option from UDC.

So, we have a unicycle with a suspension hub.

Now that is interesting. It gives a form of suspension that keeps the
critical seat:pedal distance constant, unlike suspension forks or a
suspension seat post.

Presumably, those springs are damped? Otherwise, they must either be
so stiff as to be for show only, or so soft as to make it unrideable.

Also, there are three springs, meaning that the support offered by the
springs will vary at different stages in the revolution of the wheel.
Interesting, but not good.

And what will happen to the effective "gearing" of the unicycle as the
hub moves closer to or further from the rim when you hit a bump?

Triumph (I think) made a suspension hub for motorcycles many years ago.
It had numerous single-bladed leaf springs and allowed only a small
amount of movement between the inner hub and outer hub. It was not a
major success - indeed, you will find that Aprilia, BMW, Cagiva, CCM,
Ducati, Enfield, Harley Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, MZ, Suzuki,
Vespa and Yamaha (to name but a few) have moved away from the
suspension hub idea and introduced systems that work!

So, what we have is an interesting novelty, that is probably poorly
made, is certainly poorly designed, and would not improve your
unicycling experience. If your demon leads you towards novelty
unicycles, I'd suggest get an eccentric wheel built and put odd cranks
on, or offset the cranks by 90 degrees, or fit them kangaroo style.

Does that sound negative?😉 BUt hey, it looks fun. Just don't buy
one - borrow one.😄

Has anyone ever ridden a suspension hub? I thought of putting suspension
coils in a rim before I ever heard of it, and I can't help but think
that having one of the "spokes" compress would require the others to
extend, which would require different type of suspension unit than is
commonly used. I am just curious if it works, particularly for hopping.

That back wheel looks as though it'd come off pretty easily, with an
allen wrench or something.... and that Uni does look pretty awesome...

How come cockamamey (don't know how to spell that) novelty cycles like
this one are always shown and demonstrated with the seat way too low?
Always seems like a way to identify if they're really serious about
people actually riding the thing.

But the suspension system looks fascinating. I sure would like to
see/hear about how it works! The rear wheel looks like something to
help you from going over the back, and the disc brake is a joke (it's a
20" fixed wheel, right?).

But I'd love to try one...

I realise their English is far superior to my Japanese but I still can't
help wondering why they can't afford to have English speaking
copywriters check these things before they print the box, pamphlet or
put it up on the web?

more like a hop dampener on wheels...

If they were decent air sockers with rebound cranked way up, you
