No. Suntour's Accushift system uses variegated spacing - the
cogs are farther apart in the high gears and closer in the
low gears. Shimano is an even-spaced system.

There are differences, but it might work. My (used) Santana
tandem came with Shimano downtube shifters and derailleur,
but a Suntour 7sp freewheel. Shifts fine.

Maybe you guys should trade :-)

I've thought about changing the tandem to full Suntour
shifting, since I've got shifters and derailleurs for that,
(and a spare freewheel) and I don't have a reasonable
replacement Shimano freewheel.
