    Just changed a slow leak on one of these
    puppies....thankfully in the comfort of my garage. I'm not
    even sure it could be *done* in the field. Did the thing
    with pinching the carcass to get the beads riding in the
    center of the rim....didn't do the trick.

    Been through 3 Mavic 517's, got a Mavic 617 and a 717 and a
    couple of other no-name rims. Changing a tire on all of
    these is a snap. One tire "iron" (actually plastic) and
    "zip" it's off.

    On the SunRim, it must've taken me 20 minutes to get that
    sucker off and I'm about 90% sure I'd break a tire iron if I
    had to do it there times in a row.

    I don't think it's the tire because I've had the same
    experience on this rim with three different make/model
    tires.

    Is this thing defective or is my technique wanting? Thinner
    steel irons instead of plastic?

    Not to dog Sun, but my Singletracks seem ready to snap the
    thin aluminum levers I have. That and I'm known to pinch
    new tubes about 33% of the time when sealing up the tire.
    SImilar to you I've tried different tires all with the
    same result.

    I have a spare tube in my hydro pack, powdered, in a zip
    lock bag ;-)

    No problem here I have the ATB CR 18 's and a set of
    Michelin Widegripper S on my K2 /Proflex 2000.
