Have done this a couple of times, a challenging course. The best part ,(for the family man) is it's attached to the 'Sunbury fair', which means the wife & kids can be occupied whilst you race!.....see you there,

I just realised that Sunbury isn't _that_ far away...

Can we have some more detail on the course and the race Mr. Hitchy, sir? Can we?

Challenging: twisty or hilly or both?
Is the level of racing higher than at, say, Glenvale?

G'day hippy,

The course is an 1100m 'square' on residential streets. There is a 'challenging' climb, (not to steep, but wearing after an hour) & a fast decent into a reasonably tight corner. All of the corners will be marshalled, the roads will be closed except to residents,(who have been cycle race educated). There will be lead cars & the like. Plenty of off street parking. Going by other years, we would expect (weather permitting of course) around 20 -25 in each grade. There will be some mid race sprint prizes, (cash or bike goodies) in each grade. We've put $1000 up for grabs in prize money for the day, naturally skewed towards the A graders.(maybe a little more but cyclesport only allow us to 'offer' $1000 unless it is co-promoted with them....that would force the enty fee up.) I would think C grade would be worth around $130-$160 for the win (all prize money guaranteed regardless of field size). If we get a few females in C grade (usually do), we'll have 1st female as well. The race is part of the Sunbury fair, so there will be heaps of other activities taking place on the day, so plenty to do even for those 'non riders'. Entry is $15, (bring your licence)...a good day will be had by all. Infact, i think you should load up the car with some Blackburn 'guns' & come try & take our money!....Hope to see you all there, more details on madonemans link above,

Some good piccys here. I didn't spy myself, but i fancy that might be you 'sucking wheel' at the back of the B grade bunch!.....so is the madone going to get a run this year?,

I would not even consider riding the Madone in a crit. I remember when I got my brand new Cannondale a few years ago and crashed it in my first crit ride with it. Even though I had hurt myself in the crash, the pain of seeing my Cannondale with the back wheel bent at 90 degrees was worse than any physical pain. You should know this because you were in the same crash and you had a new bike as well. I bet you don't ride your future new Look KG486 in a crit.

You should know better than to ask me if I will be riding the Madone.

Hitchy,

You can talk! How many times have you crashed. For those out there that don't know, Hitchy crashed at about 5kph turning into a driveway. You should have seen the damage he made to himself and the bike. If you can't stay on two wheels when you are riding alone, God help those who you race against.
